Broken spines. Ripped pages. Even some chocolate fingerprints and chew marks. Bethlehem Elementary School Library Media Specialist Ericca Johnson engaged students in a terrific mystery during a recent class. 

As a review of how to treat books, students in grades 3, 4 and 5 became Book Care Detectives and were required to solve cases about what happened to several damaged books that were found in the library.

This fun and engaging lesson not only raised their mystery antennas but also helped reinforce students’ understanding of the responsibility for our shared library resources when they leave the BES Library.
