BES Students Head to the Farm Used On Their TAG Adopt-A-Cow Project

Bethlehem Elementary School TAG students took a field trip to visit the home of their Adopt-a-Cow, Samantha, at Mountain Dairy in Storrs. Students got a personal tour, learned about the farm's history, saw where the cows are housed and milked, learned how their food is made, and discovered just how much land and feed it takes to keep the cows happy and healthy. They also got to see where the dairy’s delicious ice cream is made - and sampled some! One of the highlights of the trip was meeting the new calves and even convincing Farmer Stacey to let us help name several of them. They also met their adopted cow, Samantha, and wrapped up the trip with lunch. A special thank you to Lee Whalen in the NHS Agriscience Department for supporting this trip and to Mountain Dairy for such a wonderful experience for our students.
